The Kingdom Builder

Translate vision into structures that move the kingdom forward

The Kingdom Builder

Kingdom Builders carry an expansive spiritual vision paired with serious execution. They are not content to maintain the status quo, they translate sweeping vision into real structures that work. Built to lead, they rally teams past obstacles on the foundation of truth, breaking new ground for the advance of God's Kingdom.

Strengths

  • From a single passage or one prayer, you can already see what the church will look like ten years from now
  • Willing to lead the team into places no one's been, opening a road through resistance
  • You can take an abstract spiritual burden and break it into stages, roles, and progress you can actually check off

Growth Areas

  • When vision moves fast, your co-workers can become pieces on your board, and you often miss how tired they actually are
  • 'Zeal for the Lord' sounds right, but personal achievement is hiding underneath it. This one is hard to see in yourself
  • Waiting on the Lord is rough for you, God hasn't opened the door yet, and you're already pushing on it

Role in the Church

You're the one out front in the church, taking a vision others call 'too big, can't be done,' turning it into a plan people can pick up, and actually walking the team through it.

Scripture Anchor

And the LORD answered me: 'Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end,it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.'
Habakkuk 2:2-3

The kingdom builder has two callings: write the vision plainly so others can run with it, and learn, in the delay, to wait on God's clock.

Biblical Exemplar: Joshua

After Moses handed off the baton, he could divide the land tribe by tribe and set order in place, and also lead the people through the Jordan and around Jericho, taking the picture seen in heaven and grounding it on earth.

Recommended Practices

  • Once a quarter, take two days away and ask God one question: 'Which vision did I actually add myself?' Then really cross one off the plan
  • Before launching anything new, pull aside the quietest person on the team and ask, one-on-one, how much they can actually carry
  • Read one chapter of Acts each week. Watch the moments Paul was 'forbidden by the Spirit', pay attention to how he handles a closed door

Shadow Warning

The moment a kingdom builder forgets he's only a servant, the church becomes his small empire, with spiritual language trimming the edges of personal ambition.
